Environmental Policy Fine Art Cards Environment and Sustainability Statement Our Mission At Fine Art Cards we take the effect our business has on the environment very seriously and feel it’s important to share the responsibility of sustaining our planet. We strive to be as green as possible with sustaining people and planet in mind. We are committed to using sustainable materials and practices wherever possible, taking action, adapting and implementing new initiatives to reduce any negative impact on the environment. We believe that improving our environmental performance is an integral part of our business strategy and our operating methods and have made it our mission to source and offer products in an environmentally conscious way. We have detailed the key areas and practices below to illustrate how our end products have minimal impact to the environment. Environmentally Friendly Greeting Cards Fine Art Cards strive to ensure sure that our greeting cards can be easily recycled are manufactured in an environmentally responsible Eco-friendly way. Wood pulp is used to make the uncoated matte paper we use for our greeting cards Paper is a fully renewable, recyclable and sustainable resource. All of our cards are produced using either recycled pulp from waste paper, or pulp from well managed and sustainable forest sources. We ensure that all of our greeting cards can be easily recycled, so we don’t use foil, glitter, ribbon, or plastic-based gloss laminates on our cards - most recycling centres will not accept greeting cards made with anything besides paper. Printers and Inks We use non-hazardous water-based pigment inks in our printers that are easier to ‘de-ink’ than oil based inks during the recycling process, and therefore easier to recycle. Our printing methods ensure the ink is absorbed into the uncoated matte paper material printed without the use of any Industrial Alcohol solvent – the main source of hazardous VOC emissions. Hazardous Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are organic chemicals that cause harm to the air quality of the environment. Fine Art Cards do not use Plastic Fine Art Cards are safeguarded with a cellophane bag. We do not use plastics such as polypropylene, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) etc. which are fossil fuel derived and non renewable. Unlike plastic, cellophane cannot be recycled, but it is biodegradable, so it can be sent to a landfill in the regular rubbish. Cellophane is derived from natural sources such as wood, while plastic wrap is made from oil. Greeting cards sent by Fine Art Cards are despatched in recyclable, rigid card backed envelope to keep the card flat and provide protection against creasing whilst in transit.
